Second Sunday Living History Event: Rock Ford will be hosting special living history events in lieu of our regular guided tours on the second Sunday of May through October from 11 AM to 3 PM. Each of these special tours will focus on a particular aspect of 18th-century life.

During our October event, re-enactor Nancy Webster will be speaking about the importance of midwifery in women’s health issues in the 18th Century, noting that a midwife dealt with a variety of health concerns and not just birthing babies.  Holding degrees from Harvard University and the College of William and Mary, Webster has been studying the history of Southeastern Pennsylvania medicine since the 1960’s.  She has lectured extensively for several decades and is Curator Historian for the Friends Historical Association and the Honorary Curator for Swarthmore College.

In the various rooms of the mansion, volunteers will be depicting various aspects of family life during the Early American Republic.
